OWNER & OPERATOR OF SHEHTAH ADVENTURES
Floyd Moses, owner/operator of Shehtah Adventures is a local Dene man of the Deh Cho Region. He and his family operate the business based out of their home in Fort Simpson. Mr. Moses is very familiar with the land and Dene traditions and culture, as well as the European influence in the area.
The business concept arose from Mr. Moses’ many trips to the mountains and his experience as a professional guide. Mr. Moses is personable, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the region’s ecological and social details.
Floyd Moses, Shehtah Adventures owner and manager, was born and raised in Wrigley, NWT and now resides in Fort Simpson. He speaks Slavey and has been fishing, hunting and trapping in the region for over 45 years.
Mr. Moses is a trained guide (1999 Guide Level 1-GNWT) and has more than 20 years experience as an outdoor guide. He is experienced in boat and snowmobile operation and survival in varying climatic conditions. He has 25 years of jet boat experience accumulating over 2000 hours of operating time and has SVOP/MEDA3 certification and a Class 1 (Air) Driver’s Licence. Years of hunting and trapping during the winter have resulted in countless hours of snowmobile operation. Part of his duties as a guide was to teach basic Slavey, demonstrate basic traditional survival skills, gill net setting and lifting and preparing and cooking traditional meals. His lifestyle, retail experience including staff supervision and extensive guiding experience have provided him with a client service focus and extensive knowledge of the region.
